Bitnod has no accounts, so there is no account to delete. Almost everything lives only on your phone, and you can erase it yourself at any time. The few things we may hold, we delete on request.
On your phone
- Erase everything now: triple-tap your name at the top of the app. Your session key, conversations, contacts, blocks and activity are erased at once, and nothing is sent to anyone.
- Or uninstall the app. This removes everything Bitnod stored on the phone.
What we may hold, and how to delete it
Email privacy@bitnod.app from the address concerned, with the subject "Delete my data". We delete within 7 days and reply to confirm. This covers:
- Your waitlist sign-up (email address and the date you joined).
- Your phone's anonymous install record and its session key certificates. Uninstalling the app makes the install unusable; the record is deleted after 90 days without use, and certificates after 30 days.
- Emails you sent us, such as support questions.
- Reports you sent. A report that is still under review, or that we had to pass to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, is kept as long as the privacy policy says, then deleted.
What we cannot delete
- Messages and contacts on other people's phones from conversations you had with them. They went phone to phone and never reached us. Conversations are erased from both phones 15 minutes after the connection ends; a saved contact on someone else's phone expires after 90 days.
